Visit to Association Y.R.J.S. Handicapped Children's Home, Bukit Mertajam

On the very 1st day of 2009, a group of 12 Leos and friends paid a visit to Association Tee Ran Jing Sheh Handicapped Children's Home ( 怡然精舍残障儿童收留协会）at Bukir Mertajam, Penang. Previously, I was approached by my colleageus in the recent company and former company as well to doante daily necessities but never have a chance to pay a visit to this home. Since we were there, we decided to drop by and have a short visit to understand the home and thier needs from us.

YRJS is one of the charity oragnizations in Penang. The residents at this home are mostle Abandoned and Disabled Children/ Adults. From my conversation with one of the workers, most of them are adopted if they are mentally impaired, born abnormal or even abandoned by their family. They are about 53 residents ages from 9 to 40 years old if I remember correctly. Their monthly expenses is approximately RM 10+K. What I can conclude is they are really unfortunate and need support from the society. As one of the members of the service organization, Leo Club of Penang (City) has taken the initiative to donate a sum of RM 100 for this visit while Lion Ong Lai Peng from New Century Lions Club of Penang Island donated a sum of RM 50.

Besides that, we will be paying another visit during Chinese New Yar with the following items that requested by the home from us:-

- Brooms

- Softener, Dynamo, Washing Powder

- Milo, Nestum

- Adults Diapers, Dr. P (M Size)

- Chicken, Fish Ball, Ginger, Garlic, etc.

- Oraganise lunch/ tea break for the residetns. They like to eat Fried Bihun with Fried Chicken.

If you have been doing good deeds, please continue it as your kindness will be much appreciated. If you are not, it is always not too late to commence it from now. So interested to help them? You may either visit them personally or donate the above mentioned items to us when we pay our 2nd visit. Will keep you all updated once the date of next visit is confirmed.
