Canned Food Collection and Donation project 2009

Canned Food Collection Donation project
Annual Chinese New Year Community Service Project is here once again! Same as previous year, we managed to organise our annual canned Food Collection and Donation to Old Folks Home project. I love this project actually. The reason behind is we're helping people during Chinese New Year. We're helping the residents in Taman Free School to do some donation, to so good deed during this festive season. After the collection, we sent the donations to Old Folks Home. Due to low supply of donation in kind this year, we decided to donate to only one home, that is Silver Jubilee Home!

Furthermore, we've paid a visit to Rumah Charis Relau last year's Xmas already. Therefore, we sent all the donations to Silver Jubilee since we haven't pay any visit during this fiscal year of 2008-2009 yet. According to my past experience for this service project, I would say that low supply of donation in kind was definitely impacted by the recent economic downturn. That's the reason, we did not have sufficient donation in kind to be distributed to 2 Old Folks Home for this year!

As usual, we took a Group photo before heading to Old Folks Home to mark an end of the collection. See, not much doantions we collected on that day! Sad... Anyway, we had successfully carried out this annual CNY project. Other than donation in kind, we also managed to raise RM 250 from friends for this project too- Zhang Hao's Grandpa, OngLai and PurpleFish. Terima Kasih banyak banyak!

After paying a visit to Chesire Home for physically disabled persons (Hair Cut), Penang Home for Infirm and Aged (Tea Party and Health Project), St. Nicholas Home for the blind and visually impaired persons (Hearing Screening Project), Rumah Charis Relau (X'mas Tea Party and Games), YRJS Handicapped Children's Home (Donation) and Silver Jubilee Home, hopefully we will continue our good work and helping those in need in this fiscal year 2008-2009 so that Leo Club of Penang (City) will emerge to be the strongest and outstanding service club in Penang! :P
