AS everyone knows, this year there will be 2 Chap Goh Mei celebration right here in Penang! One was last night which I'm sharing now and another one will be tonight at explanade by Penang State Government. Basically, I was there to help out on the selling of Mandarin Oranges for tossing into the above Wishing Pond to the public in aid of Penang Haemodialysis Center. While waiting for Pretty Emcee to be on stage, I was the backup Emcee for the night too.
By the way, here is another photo showing the scene after the wishing pond collapse. Ya, you are right, the "stage" for the wishing pond collapse last night. Why? This question should be answered by the event organizer who set up the wishing pond! May be they were probably having budget constraint since Peang State Government did not sponsor them any single cent! Who knows?
After collapse, those people were up on the small stage immediately which belongs to Emcee just for photo taking on the collapsed wishing pond!
Besides the wishing pond, there were 4 wishing trees for the public to hang up thier wishes right in front of the Kuan Yin Temple. Hopefully, their wishes come true this year!
A piece of card you will get if you donate a sum of money which will channel to Penang Foyi Dialysis Center.
Before hanging up your wishes, what you have to do is.... PRAY in front of the Kuan Yin Temple in search of blessings from Kuan Yin...
Other than the above mentioned activities, there were some other activities like ChinGay, Baba Nyonya's dance, Lion Dance etc.

Looks like they also cut cost on the materials used for Chap Goh Mei's decoration since the economic crisis coming now.
