Penang National Chingay Competition 2009 @ Explanade
The next day after the celebration was the Penang Chingay Competition. Some of you might not know what Chingay is. So spare out some times to google it or click on this link to check it out what is this especially Penangnites! According to the visit penang website, Chingay is:-
Chingay is originated from China, and the Penang Chinese first performed Chingay
in 1899 during deity processions. It is a street art where the performer
balances a giant flag that ranges from 25 ft to 32 ft in height and about 60
pounds in weight.

(The audience under the hot sun watching the show)
The competition started from 8:30am to 11:00am. I was reminded by my 2 friends a night before about this competition and they invited me to attend this event for photo shooting together but end up I was alone. Both of them were still sleeping when I reached Explanade. swt.... I reached there about 9.30pm+. At that time, about there were about 5 teams had gone thru the competition. By the way, there were only 7 teams took part in this annual Chingay Competition. Nowadyas, Chingay has became an interesting cultural landmark of Penang as well as an important tourist attraction.

(He cheer for the victory)

(Big and Long pole on his mouth)

Not much story I can tell right here. It was not as crowded as I expected. Anyhow, there were a lot of foreigners too who enjoy watching the Chingay performance. Other than foreigners, of course there were a lot of passionate photographers. It was more like a gathering for photographers. Taking photos alone was not as fun as going out with 1 or 2 friends whereby we can talk and share out photos after taking. Anyway, I didn't spent much time there since I was alone. After taking a few photos and enjoying the Chingay performance, I headed back to Foyi Sunday School. Call me out next time if you also have enthusiasm in Photography. :)

Penang celebrates 1st year Anniversary as UNESCO World Heritage Site
Finally, I can go out anywhere with my camera. I just got my camera last friday and the next day I managed to attend the celebration of 1st year anniversary of Penang as UNESCO world herritage site at Jalan Kapitan Keling. I was there with Wallace after my 4 hours class. Some people do not like to attend such event but I'm a exception. I like to walk around with my camera and of course at the same time visiting the booths that set up on the street.
On the day itself, there were a lot of programs and celebration activities being carried out from the early morning to the night. The only one that I stopped by longer was Showcase of Teochew & Chinese Culture @ Teochew Association (Han Chiang Temple). There were a lot of activities which I think more or less like what we used to see during Chinese New Year open house every year. Among the activities, this was the most attractive one to both penangnites and foreigners. It was the most interesting one comparing the the rest :P

Ch'ng Eng Joo- 3rd place that I got my stamp chop :)

(Stamp Chop on my "Passport". I collected all from one place to another based on the instruction inside the passport )
By the way, before start "touring" around, I bought a George Town UNESCO world heritage site passport that cost me RM 8. Seriously, it is expensive but it was fun going one place to another to get a stamp chop. Did you get one?

(The Indian Lady was teaching a man on how to make the flower garland)
(Incense for the Gods Handmade Joss Stick Maker)
(A man was paiting his own face for chinese opera performance right in front of Kuan Yin Temple)
(Lion dance at Han Chaing Temple)
I didnt managed to take a lot of photos due to wallace need to go back early. so what i 've done on that day was basically... get all the stamp chops.. :P and of course take some pictures to blog:) By the way I met ah leng and adrian there :)

Selangor Exco's Political Secretary dies in a fall
Today, I'm following on the news of Selangor Exco's Political Secretary dies in a fall. Murder? manslaughter ? No Idea. Like what the old men used to say "政治是黑暗的”(Political has its own dark side). I'm getting bored with our Malaysian Political News. Everyday reading the same news. Political News will never end in Malaysia. Who is correct who is wrong. No one knows. I feel like we as a Malaysian is being fooled around by the Politicians. I like to read those Political news to stay updated with what is happening around me. I have nothing to comment on what is happening right now but as a Malaysian, we really don't want to see such embarassing issues keep on happening in our country. We need a stable government which is free from corruption and FAIR treatment to all. Why FAIR? becuase Malaysia is a multiracial country. Hope someone can change it soon....I'm sick of it....

Birthday suprise in the morning- Happy Birthday to me 711
- Career- Of course hoping to get a better job with better pay so that I no need to give tuitions at night. In my career path, I always think of doing out of what I studied. But no idea. If I continue my working life in MNC, I do hope that I'm given a chance to work out from Penang like TDA, or go for a few weeks of business trip. This is to fullfil my dream of working in MNC :P Save travelling cost. erm... hopefully, I can earn more and more $ the coming days.
- Car - get my car out by the age of 24. is either City or Vios lol. :P but it might be change anytime due to the current economic downturn and my current pay :)
- Good Health of course.
- Learn new thing again although it might be late but never try never know. I know I can. if you're asking me what are the new things.... I would say... it depends :P
- NGOs- trying to reduce my involvement if possible. :) Is kinda lazy when I'm holding key position in the NGOs that I joined. I'm kind of soft hearted where I wont allow my friends who join me as a team to have opputunity cost. Forgone what they want just to support me as the thier head.
- Vacation- I like to travel twice a year out of Malaysia. Next destination I prefer to go will be Taiwan to meet the local Leos if they have and followed by Australia for the Lions Convention/ Global Leo Conference. There are 2 other places I will go if I got the budget- Macau Hong Kong and Japan....
- Further my study? talking about this..I'm thinking to study abroad actually for master degree but no cash! and wonder my degree cert is recognise outside or not.
- erm....tentatively....my mind is BLANK...so the rest I will keep for myself to strive for it and of course hopefully, everything goes smoothly for myself and my family... May god bless every one of us...
That's all for now...gonna mop the floor bathe and wait for choe to pick me for red box... :P Thansk everyone who wish me in SMS, Facebook, Call me from KL, Australia and Japan...Face to face...etc... kamxia! I will be changing myself in the age of 24! I will follow Lilian's Thoo advice haha...Hopefully what she said in the book is "chun". I'm happy when I knew 'something" in the feng sui book. ok...bye

Sorry, no picture for this as no one was requesting for a photo during the lunch. Next, Shu Fang, my close GL colleague. She was my senior of my 1st employment after my degree. We treated her Ichiyo Japanese Food @i-Avenue. It costs me about RM 15+ if not mistaken. :) Anyway, wish her best of luck and hope that we can be colleague back one day. :P
