Penang National Chingay Competition 2009 @ Explanade

Chingay Competition 2009Chingay Competition 2009

The next day after the celebration was the Penang Chingay Competition. Some of you might not know what Chingay is. So spare out some times to google it or click on this link to check it out what is this especially Penangnites! According to the visit penang website, Chingay is:-

Chingay is originated from China, and the Penang Chinese first performed Chingay
in 1899 during deity processions. It is a street art where the performer
balances a giant flag that ranges from 25 ft to 32 ft in height and about 60
pounds in weight.

The competition started from 8:30am to 11:00am. I was reminded by my 2 friends a night before about this competition and they invited me to attend this event for photo shooting together but end up I was alone. Both of them were still sleeping when I reached Explanade. swt.... I reached there about 9.30pm+. At that time, about there were about 5 teams had gone thru the competition. By the way, there were only 7 teams took part in this annual Chingay Competition. Nowadyas, Chingay has became an interesting cultural landmark of Penang as well as an important tourist attraction.

Not much story I can tell right here. It was not as crowded as I expected. Anyhow, there were a lot of foreigners too who enjoy watching the Chingay performance. Other than foreigners, of course there were a lot of passionate photographers. It was more like a gathering for photographers. Taking photos alone was not as fun as going out with 1 or 2 friends whereby we can talk and share out photos after taking. Anyway, I didn't spent much time there since I was alone. After taking a few photos and enjoying the Chingay performance, I headed back to Foyi Sunday School. Call me out next time if you also have enthusiasm in Photography. :)

Penang celebrates 1st year Anniversary as UNESCO World Heritage Site

Penang celebrates 1st year Anniversary as UNESCO World Herritage Site

Finally, I can go out anywhere with my camera. I just got my camera last friday and the next day I managed to attend the celebration of 1st year anniversary of Penang as UNESCO world herritage site at Jalan Kapitan Keling. I was there with Wallace after my 4 hours class. Some people do not like to attend such event but I'm a exception. I like to walk around with my camera and of course at the same time visiting the booths that set up on the street.

Penang celebrates 1st year Anniversary as UNESCO World Herritage Site

On the day itself, there were a lot of programs and celebration activities being carried out from the early morning to the night. The only one that I stopped by longer was Showcase of Teochew & Chinese Culture @ Teochew Association (Han Chiang Temple). There were a lot of activities which I think more or less like what we used to see during Chinese New Year open house every year. Among the activities, this was the most attractive one to both penangnites and foreigners. It was the most interesting one comparing the the rest :P

Ch'ng Eng Joo- 3rd place that I got my stamp chop :)

By the way, before start "touring" around, I bought a George Town UNESCO world heritage site passport that cost me RM 8. Seriously, it is expensive but it was fun going one place to another to get a stamp chop. Did you get one?

Selangor Exco's Political Secretary dies in a fall

Today, I'm following on the news of Selangor Exco's Political Secretary dies in a fall. Murder? manslaughter ? No Idea. Like what the old men used to say "政治是黑暗的”(Political has its own dark side). I'm getting bored with our Malaysian Political News. Everyday reading the same news. Political News will never end in Malaysia. Who is correct who is wrong. No one knows. I feel like we as a Malaysian is being fooled around by the Politicians. I like to read those Political news to stay updated with what is happening around me. I have nothing to comment on what is happening right now but as a Malaysian, we really don't want to see such embarassing issues keep on happening in our country. We need a stable government which is free from corruption and FAIR treatment to all. Why FAIR? becuase Malaysia is a multiracial country. Hope someone can change it soon....I'm sick of it....

birthday lunch date with guat guat and choe

Gilatoooooo

Let's say thank you to my birthday lunchmates: choe and dear guat guat for sacrificing their sleeping times to celebrate my birthday in the beautiful morning of Saturday! Seven eleven 711 was not a good day. It was a rainy day, raining whole day long. A day before, I was moodless. I don't know why. It might be due to someone or it might be due to something happended before birtday. I just don't know. Anyway, all are past tense right now. I should look forward and never look backward as what my brother KH told me once b4.

Gilato...finally

Let's continue. Birthday eve- I was with ZH, OL, Fi adn Justin for Ice Age 3 at Queensbay since my ttn was cancelled by my student himself. I got nothing to do so just join them for movie. It was great I mean Ice Age 3. Funny and cute. After the movie, all of us moved to APEX for dinner and playing Monopoly untill 12.30am. The next day, I went to Red Box with my dearest guat guat and choe. I was having a great time singing with them. Singing definitely is a good way to release tension and able to let you forget everything. I enjoyed the moment we sang and shouted! I treasure it. We've been long time didn't sing like that together. Thanks for the treat by the way.

Did you notice there is a small piece of paper right infront of the cake? I didnt notice that when i Blew the candle untill I was told to read.
'Birthday
My colleagues purposely printed out a piece of paper telling me those decorative items are for DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY! haha...funny right? I was holding the paper and cut the cake.
Kamxia my lorong colleagues
Is my birthday today! Is seven eleven. But dont why I not so happy leh? Anyway, sharing those pictures and specially say thank you to my lunchmates in office for the suprise yesterday morning when I first stepped in my lorong with my hand holding my phone checking on the SMS I sent and someone replied last night. I got a Oreo Cream Cheese Cake from PS, my lead! She made her own 1st ever Cheese Cake for my birthday. I'm touched with that because it was HOMEMADE! :P Talking about my Birthday Resolution, it will be more than last year. I did all for my Birthday Resolutions that I made except one which gonna carry forward to 24th Birthday with "no interest" lol. Let's try to talk about it:-
  1. Career- Of course hoping to get a better job with better pay so that I no need to give tuitions at night. In my career path, I always think of doing out of what I studied. But no idea. If I continue my working life in MNC, I do hope that I'm given a chance to work out from Penang like TDA, or go for a few weeks of business trip. This is to fullfil my dream of working in MNC :P Save travelling cost. erm... hopefully, I can earn more and more $ the coming days.
  2. Car - get my car out by the age of 24. is either City or Vios lol. :P but it might be change anytime due to the current economic downturn and my current pay :)
  3. Good Health of course.
  4. Learn new thing again although it might be late but never try never know. I know I can. if you're asking me what are the new things.... I would say... it depends :P
  5. NGOs- trying to reduce my involvement if possible. :) Is kinda lazy when I'm holding key position in the NGOs that I joined. I'm kind of soft hearted where I wont allow my friends who join me as a team to have opputunity cost. Forgone what they want just to support me as the thier head.
  6. Vacation- I like to travel twice a year out of Malaysia. Next destination I prefer to go will be Taiwan to meet the local Leos if they have and followed by Australia for the Lions Convention/ Global Leo Conference. There are 2 other places I will go if I got the budget- Macau Hong Kong and Japan....
  7. Further my study? talking about this..I'm thinking to study abroad actually for master degree but no cash! and wonder my degree cert is recognise outside or not.
  8. erm....tentatively....my mind is BLANK...so the rest I will keep for myself to strive for it and of course hopefully, everything goes smoothly for myself and my family... May god bless every one of us...

That's all for now...gonna mop the floor bathe and wait for choe to pick me for red box... :P Thansk everyone who wish me in SMS, Facebook, Call me from KL, Australia and Japan...Face to face...etc... kamxia! I will be changing myself in the age of 24! I will follow Lilian's Thoo advice haha...Hopefully what she said in the book is "chun". I'm happy when I knew 'something" in the feng sui book. ok...bye

Nokia N97 vs Nokia 5800

N97
Guess what is this phone? Nokia! yes you are right. What is the model? Of course is non other than N97 the latest model for Nokia Touch Screen Phone! Areyou trying to leave me a comment whether this phone belongs to me or not? What do you think? Will I buy this phone as my birthday gift again? Let you guess! Talking about spendings, I spent alot this year. Bought an external flash canon 5800, new phone etc... Over spending seriously. I need to start saving...

picture wif n 97

Lai Lai....let's compare the picture taken with Nokia N97 and Nokia Express Music 5800. The above picture was taken with Nokia 97 with 5.0 MP

picture with 5800

Whereas this one was taken with Nokia Express Music 5800 wth 3.2MP. Same place same lighthing but different model of mobile phones and different people in the pictures. Can you tell me what is the difference?
I share my comment:-
  1. Nokia N97 makes me looks FATTER which I like it! but Older :(
  2. Nokia N97 produces better quality of picture, the noise is lesser.
  3. Nokia N97 produces better colour comapring with Nokia 5800.

Agree with me?

Farewell Buffet Lunch for Big Big Boss Janice @ Palace d India Queensbay

Hock Meng Last Day
(former big big boss hock meng..he bid farewell to us on his last day. he served the company for almost 3 years if not mistaken)

Last month was a wedding season whereby I've received 5 wedding invitations. Out of these 5, 4 invitations were from my colleagues. It was a very "hurt" month to me personally. My "wallet" was bleeding non-stop. I thought after these 5 weddings, it will be no more but here comes farewell for colleagues who leave the company. It's farewell season after wedding season! Many colleagues are leaving soon for better opportunity.

Shu Fang Farewell Lunch @ ichiyo
(Farewell Lunch @ ichiyo japanese restaurant for my colleague also my former senior Shu Fang)

I only attended those farewell lunch/dinner of my close colleagues or boss. 1st one in the list was former big big boss HM. His farewell was seafood dinner @ teluk kumbar. I did not attend because it was at night! :) So I am "save" and also "safe" for this round! Coming up was Carmen @ KFC. Sorry, no picture for this as no one was requesting for a photo during the lunch. Next, Shu Fang, my close GL colleague. She was my senior of my 1st employment after my degree. We treated her Ichiyo Japanese Food @i-Avenue. It costs me about RM 15+ if not mistaken. :) Anyway, wish her best of luck and hope that we can be colleague back one day. :P

Janice Farewell with LB @ Palace d India
(My Lunchmates with Janice)

This week, another farewell for our finance big big boss, Janice @ Palace d India Queensbay Mall. We had Indian buffet lunch. RM 25 per pax. If you ask me to comment on the food, I would say it is so so nia and not worth the price. It was like Nasi Kandar we have at mamak stall. I would rather say RM 25 is for the environment and food. The buffet lunch came with Nan, Chicken, Rice, Fried Onion Ring, Mutton, Curry Fish, TauKua Vege, ice cream as dessert and lime juice. That's all.

Janice Farewell @ Palace D India

After the lunch, Janice was invited to give her farewell speech. A group photo taken before everyone heading back to office! Coming up will be another 4 colleagues leaving the company soon........ when is my turn? :) You want to hire me?
