Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Tea Room @ Queensbay

Queensbay Mall Xian Ting Wei Taiwanese Restaurant
(鲜定味咕鲁肉套餐)

We went to the newly open restaurant next to Sakae Sushi Queensbay, Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Tea Room yesterday for our lunch. It was crowded and there was no empty seats available. Luckily we have our x-colleagues to dine in before the seats were fully occupied.

(鲜定味三杯鸡套餐)

Due to I was late to reach the restaurant, I only managed to take a few pictures on the set meal. The rest of my friends already started to eat when we reached. I ordered 3 cups chicken set meal (三杯鸡套餐) which comes with a soup of the day, 3 cold platters, and a bowl of steam white rice or stewed meat rice (鲁肉饭).

The environment is cozy and it makes you feel comfortable to dine in. The interior design is very chinese and it looks the same as Canton-I when I first stepped in the restaurant. I wonder whether the management is the same or not.. hmm... I have doubt. haha... Anyway, the set meal costs me RM 18.90+ 10% service charge +5% government tax. The serving is big enough for 2. If you are bored with the exsiting restaurants and also looking for authentic taiwanese food in Queensbay Mall, you may try this new restaurant. Although it is expensive but you will end up feel that it is worthwhile to have a try. Something new in Queensbay Mall :)

Penang Kek Lok Si

Penang Kok Lok Si Night View
I have problem in shooting landscape photos. May be I'm not a pro DSLR user or my DSLR is lousy. I went for landscape shooting on Kek Lok Si night view last Sunday together with Alvin and Min Xiang. My 1st attempt was in Hong Kong shooting night scene of Hong Kong at the Peak and this was my 2nd attempt. Tak Cantik still.... Anyway, sharing some of the photos taken from Kek Lok Si Penang during Chinese New Year Celebration.

The next day, which was Monday, I went to Kek Lok Si temple with another gang. We were actually late and miss alot of shots in the temple. We reached the temple at around 9+ after a long Q for parking. We took the cable car to the Octagon pavilion. Upon our arrival, we were told that the lights were going to switch off at 11pm, meaning we had only 5 minutes left to shoot. OMG...We rushed up to the Octagon Pavilion and luckily we managed to take a few shots :)

萧志豪被脱裤子

Victor, Kenny, Kelvin and Yong Seng

This post is written in Chinese and I'm lazy to translate as my initial intention is to post up those pictures taken with my Express Music 5800. It's not perfect comparing to other Nokia's model but at least it serves its purpose when it is needed. The CNY celebration comes to an end soon. Another 3 more days to go. For the past 1 week, I enjoyed myself as a 18 years old guy :) Visiting my Leo pals and friends with limited times. I back to work on last Wednessday so I had a pretty packed schedule during my off days. Out from house in the afternoon and back home in the late midnight. Woo~ Anyway, it's worthwhile. Coming Saturday, if you are free, please visit me at Jalan Kapitan Keling, a Chap Goh Mei Celebration by Penang Chinese Town Hall. I will be on duty for the wishing pond. :) If you are interested to help, do let me know too. We need volunteers. :)

Kek Lok Si and 3 crazy photographers

Kek Lok Si with MX and ahKOK
(Looks Romantic? lol Min Xiang and ahKOK)
Kek Lok Si and ahKOK
(That's me and Kek Lok Si Temple)
Kek Lok Si and Alvin
(That's Alvin, i like this shot, got FEEL)

Last night, I went to a place where I can shoot the night scene of Kek Lok Si together with Alvin and Min Xiang. We spent a few minutes to walk up the hill from the Tua Pek Kong Temple next to the Seven Eleven, Air Itam. It was my 1st time trying to shoot the whole Kek Lok Si but I don't really satisfy with the pictures taken. May be I dont know the correct way to shoot or perhaps my cam is lousy. There was a path on your left hand side after you have a walked a distance up. There is the place where you can take the best angle of the whole Kek Lok Si. We met a lot of pro-photographers right there when we reached. They armed with NIKON DSLR with sipeh holiao Lens. I started to hate NIKON haha... why? As I was the only one armed with Canon DSLR and the picture quality is better than mine after comparing with Min Xiang. geerrr... I will share mine in the next post. By now, sharing the above 3 pictures by MX. I was the Idea contributor to take these pictures!! :) Nice? No edit work added. They are original! :) You may refer to MX's flickr. Tell me how you feel.....

Guang Ming Miao Hui 2010

Guang Ming Miao Hui 2010

I've attended Penang Miao Hui at Macalister Road for the past 2 years. This year, Chin Kang Hoay Kuan was one of the co-oragnisers of this CNY event. I'm the youth committee and of course I'm invovled too. Our association was incharge for "Jade Emperor's Birthday Celebration Ceremony". Basically, I was there with our Youth Uniform and helped to click and snap with my camera. Our Association demostarted the correct way to place the offerings when praying the Jade Emperor on the ninth of the Lunar New Year.

Chinese New Year Visits and Gathering ... more to come

Kelvin, THuang, ahKOK, WanPei, CaiQian, Corrinne
(Kelvin, Tee Huang, ahKOK, Wan Pei, Cai Qian, Corrinne)
Hello, how are you guys doing? Gaining weight already or sufffering Sore throat? I'm still ok but no assurance for the rest of the days as I still have gatherings to attend and $ is waiting for me to bring them back too. For the 1st day, I did nothing as my family did not have CNY visit practice. The reason is I'm from small family and not much closed relatives we have. Furthermore, my brother's food court was re-opened on the 1st day of CNY. So, my mum was there to help out. So, basically, I had nothing to do on the 1st day of CNY except playing cards at OngLai's house.

Gathering at OL's house with Penang City Members
Reunion dinner of Leo Club of Penang (City)

The next day, it was a CNY visit marathon. After picking up Tee Huang and Kenny, I drove them along to Ln Sunny's house to pay my visit. Our journey continued to visit Stanley, Corrinne, Wan Pei and Tee Huang. The main intention of course not only to send our greetings and getting angpow but to "earn" some extra pocket money :) Got what I mean? I love to win. The next day, I visited Chiou Perng followed by Yong Seng, Kelvin Seow and Jocelyn.

Gathering at BAGAN with Primary Schoolmates

The 4th day, start to work. I had 2 gatherings at night after work. Leo Club of Penang (City)'s reunion dinner and Gathering with my Primary Schoolmates at Bagan. Wau... sipeh busy.... Run here and there.... tired and exhausted. End my short updates here :) BRB Tonight, i have another and tomorrow too.

BEST SHOT for CNY 2010 #3

Guang Ming Miao Hui 2010
#3: Eating Biscuit Game. Though, it was not nicely captured but at least it does tell us something.
No matter how old you are, you are still able to play as what the youngers do.

Yeah~ Trying to capture this scene for a number of times in the recent guang ming miao hui. A few pictures were taken and this is the best among the rest but..but.. still not satisfy :) Dont you think that this uncle is cute? He joined the fun and enjoy the little game in the Miao Hui. Most of the participants that I saw were uncles and aunties. They are young in heart :) yeah~

BEST SHOT for CNY 2010 #1

Guang Ming Miao Hui 2010
#1- Erecting the Sugar Canes, one of the offerings by Hokkiens.

As per my understanding, generations ago, Hokkiens were saved by Jade Emperor from entermination by demons. Jade Emperor fought for the Hokkiens as they sought refuge in the SugarCane Plantation. Coincidently, the day was also the birthday of Jade Emperor. So generations and years later, Hokkiens offer SugarCanes to thank and appreciate the helping hands by Jade Emperor!

CNY Dinner @ Maple Palace

CNY DInner at Maple Palace 2010

Lou ah Lou~ Time for Lou Sang lo! AS usual, I had my annual CNY "Siu Kang" Dinner with my colleagues as well as lunchmates together. This year, there is no free Dinner by the department or our boss so this is our self paid CNY Dinner. Last year we had it at TAO, eGate and this year we changed to Chinese Cuisine 8 Course Dinner at Maple Palace. The dinner started off with YEE SANG! YEE SANG is a traditional auspicious dish that symbolise the ushering of good luck, good health, wealth and longevity for the lunar new year. We tossed the YEE SANG as high as we can in the air with chopsticks in hope that the new year will brings us prosperity, abundance and vigor. I had tossed twice before the Lunar New Year. How about you? Have you toss any?

CNY DInner at Maple Palace 2010

The dinner costs us RM 788++. Expensive? Yes, indeed it is. Luckily, my team lead was kind and geenrous enough to contribute RM 200 to reduce our "financial" burden. :) Mostly, this kind of dinner is organised by the company and the employee does not pay any single cent. Due to budget constraint, no choice but to pay ourselves.

CNY DInner at Maple Palace 2010

Come back to the 8 course dinner, the reason why I said costly is because of the serving portion. No one was back with "full stomach". I've no idea whether it is worthwhile or not with the dishes they served. To my understanding, CNY Dinner/ Lunch is never cheap. That's it. Is hard for you to find budget course dinner during the CNY.

CNY DInner at Maple Palace 2010

We also celebrated a belated birthday for one of my colleagues- Renee. Due to "budget" constraint, I've prepared the above"suprise" for her. A bun with candle and decorated with a piece of watermeloon. Nice right? She should be glad to have me as one of her colleagues. I think no one will give her such a nice birthday "cake". We sang birthday song for her whereas she was holding this plate of "birthday cake". The waiter and waitress were looking at her and she felt shy and keep on laughing.

CNY DInner at Maple Palace 2010

Don't jump to the conclusion that we are STINGY colleagues. Although, we might not be able to get a 5 or 10kg cake at the very last minute, but no matter how, we will still get a small slice of cake for her. Tang Tang~ Here we served the cake after the "bun". She felt suprised! I think she started to scold in her heart after we presented the BUN to replace the cake. No choice la, this was the process of making another one to have a unforgettable birthday. You see her face changed so fast in the above 2 pictures. From "upset" to "happy".

CNY DInner at Maple Palace 2010

Click and Snap was my duty but too bad those pictures taken by me were not perfect. I feel like throwing away my DSLR and replace with a good one that comes with L lens. :) Frankly, I targeted to own a DSLR with HD video camera now. Hoepfully, my dream comes true soon :)

Maple Palace CNY Dinner 2010

Before everyone heading back home, a group photo was taken. Thansk to Joe for helping us to take a group photo. Today is new year eve, wishing all my friends again, GONG XI FA CAI and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Visit to Leo Club of CLHS's Meeting

Badges for sales! The 3 fallen stars, District 308 B2 remembers 17-1-2010, in memory of Late Jason, Brendon and Yi Zhang.

a minute of silence observed by all of us

1st of February was the replacement holiday for Thaipusam so not a working day to me. Coincidently, there was a Leo meeting going on by Leo Club of Chung Ling High School so I've attended together with DC Alan Thoo, RCC Ong Lai Peng and DS Foong Chee Keat. Should I call it as an official visit by DC for Leo- Alan Thoo? I have no idea and not even know the main purpose of the visit. Whatever, I just joined them for fun. It was suppose to be a project meeting but later they changed it to BOD meeting. A minute of silence was observed by all of us who attended the meeting in memory of Late Jason Ch'ng, Brendon Yeoh and Goh Yi Zhang who invovled in the Dragon Boat Tragedy. The meeting was chaired by 1st Vice President aka Acting Club President Lim Yong Seng reporting the coming projects and activities to the BODs as well as DC Alan Thoo and RCC Ong Lai Peng. Nothing much to highlight. Oh yeah, They are selling the above badges to raise funds for Charity. For those who are interested, please look for Shaun Ong or Yong Seng :) Limited Edition loo.... that's it for this post :)
